The Volcano at Mirage
The Volcano at the Mirage Resort attracts crowds every day after dusk. It’s a free to view attraction and a Las Vegas landmark. During the day time, the volcano is just a beautiful waterfall but as sun sets, the waterfall suddenly rumbles and bursts flames as high as 100 feet up in the air.
It opened in 1989 and since then, every 15 minutes after the sun sets (from 7 p.m.) and until midnight, crowds flock to enjoy the beautiful show of “molten lava” tumbling down the volcano. In cool nights it’s nice to feel the gentle heat coming from the “eruption”. And best of all, if you miss a show, you can stick around and catch in again.
The volcano is set on a three acre lagoon and 3,000 computerized lights create the illusion of flowing lava. The volcano is 50 feet high and it erupted 40 feet up into the blue Las Vegas sky. It’s show for kids and adults!
