The Tomb and Museum of King Tutankhamun is located within Luxor hotel-casino and practically transports you back to the time of pharaohs, temples and pyramids. The tomb is an exact replica of the original tomb discovered by Howard Carter, a British archeologist, in 1922. You can peek into the burial chamber; see the treasury and many more.
At the entrance to the museum a history of King Tut’s tomb is played on two big-screen TVs. The tour takes 15 minutes and is self guided. There is on display even a stone from a block used to build the Great Pyramid of Giza. The stone was donated to the museum by the tourism authority in Egypt. You can also see an exact replica of the pharaoh’s chariot.
There are a lot of statues of King Tut in the antechamber, treasury and annex. There are also statues of the gods and wooden boats meant to take the King to its eternal voyage. Semi-precious stones can also be found in the tomb, as well as calcite and limestone.
You can also admire the replica of the King Tut’s golden plated sarcophagus, an oil lamp carved from a block of alabaster and a lot of wine vessels and baskets, barriers and fruits all meant to help the King in the afterlife.
King Tut’s tomb stayed hidden for centuries while other toms in the Valley of the Kings were looted by grave robbers. Now, we all have a chance to admire a true replica of the tomb.
And in true Las Vegas style, at the end of the tour there is a gift shop where you can buy “artifacts” to take home and remember your trip.
