Fremont Street

Fremont Street is a famous street in downtown Las Vegas in the heart of the downtown casino corridor. It has been named after John C Fremont who put Las Vegas on the map. The Fremont Street is rich in history and has many of the Vegas firsts. It has the first Vegas hotel, the first telephone, the first paved street, the first Nevada gaming license etc. In the recent times it has been upgraded and updated to the modern technology and now it is known as the Fremont Street Experience.

Fremont Street Experience:

Fremont Street is housed under a permanent canopy of glorious lights, and is as large as five football fields. Underneath, people walk around or rather spin around in the casino lined, restaurants and malls filled street of five blocks. Occasionally, the lights are turned off and the sound systems go silent as they give way to the animated shows overhead which can be viewed from anywhere on the block of five streets.

Some of the shows that are featured include:

• The Drop, a mythical underwater journey

• American Freedom, a patriotic tribute

• Area 51, a peek at alien world

The shows are free and animations are dazzling and with the concert-quality sound system, it all takes you into a surreal world.

The new canopy is called Viva Vision. It stands 90 feet above your head and covers the entire five blocks. The recent technical update has added 2.1 million light bulbs and the sound system has been updated as well. The facility is controlled by 32 computers located in kiosks in the mall. The light and sound shows begin at dusk and the “Sin City” comes to life with neon lighted casinos, strip clubs and the Viva Vision Experience. The videos and shows are projected on to the canopy and the surprise lingers as the TV broadcast stops all of a sudden and the lights and sounds stop and your pupils dilates to the short videos that are projected to the canopy. All under Viva Vision which is the biggest big screen on the Planet! There are ten casinos, 10,000 slots, more than 60 restaurants and uncountable number of bars and lounges!

The Pedestrian Mall is the place, which starts where the Fremont Street was closed to vehicular traffic. There are light and sound shows. The mall plays music from a state-of-art music system all the time.

Parking Plaza is located at the eastern end of Fremont Street and is a 1avish 1,430 parking structure to accommodate the maximum number of tourists.

Neonopolis is at the east end of the pedestrian mall. It is a $100 million open-air restaurant, shop and entertainment complex with a movie theatre. This is home to the famous Poker Dome challenge.

Fremont Street Experience is the heart of Las Vegas and will exhilarate and encompass you in its rich feast of the extravaganza it offers in lights, sounds, people, casinos and shows.
